Setting sail from Tokyo you'll be heading south along the coast to Shimizu, as you arrive you can't help but stand in awe of the imposing Mount Fuji looming ominously in the distance. Docking in Kochi on the island of Shikoku make sure to head to the heart of the city and snap a photo on the Harimaya Bridge, whilst across the street, an elaborate clock announces each hour with mechanical figures that seem to dance to the sound of chimes. Your next port of call is the coastal town of Beppu, where you can enjoy its numerous hot springs before cruising one of Japan's most incredible waterways, the Kanmon Strait, on your way to Busan in South Korea. Your next two ports are dominated by poignant memorials and monuments that remind us of their importance in World War II history. Nagasaki and Hiroshima will certainly leave you reflecting on the past, whilst also admiring the natural beauty that surrounds these two historic cities. Known as the historical and cultural epicentre of Japan, Kyoto used to be the country's capital city for over 1,000 years. Surrounded by verdant rolling hills, the city is dotted with stunning Buddhist temples and more than 400 Shintō shrines. You'll spend an overnight onboard before departing for your final destination, Nagoya, as your Japanese adventure sadly comes to an end. |
